Is direct recruitment a threat to your business?
0The short answer is Yes and No…confused, let me explain.
Over the past number of years, the trend of corporate direct recruitment has been gathering pace. This trend has sped up more recently with the global financial crisis. Internal recruiters and HR professionals are having to do more with less resource and have been forced to cut their costs, the first area being their recruitment costs via agencies.
No need to faint here, you have all seen it coming, but have you reacted and changed your game plan?
If you haven’t, then direct recruitment is going to have a major impact on your business, and if you don’t change soon, you will not have a business to worry about.
So what can you and should you be doing?
Where can you add value? That is the question you should be asking yourself, this is the same question you should have asked yourself when you set up your business. If you are not adding value, you will not be useful to your clients, you will not have a value add offering and you will not grow your business.
Where to start?
Knowledge is the first place, you need to get yourself up to speed with the latest trends in recruitment and see how you can create a value offering that your clients may need. Relationships are another key area. How often are you in front of your client, taking them out for lunch or a coffee, understanding their needs and challenges?
Systems and processes are key, the internet revolution is here and everyone needs to drive efficiency and reduce cost. Keep lean and work smarter by using available tools and software to give you that edge.
Image and presence, ensure that your brand is polished and professional, have you a website, your own domain name, standardised documentation. If you have answered no to any of these, then you need to get on the case.
These are just some of the areas you can focus on. As a business, we are constantly engaging with our clients, assisting them in their path to recruitment nirvana. We will be holding a series of seminars over the coming months which will expand on some of these points and many others. You will learn how to utilize technology to your advantage, create a value offering, lower your running costs and ensure your business can survive and thrive in these changing times.
